The Fred Enke golf course has the distinction of being a desert-style course and is considered by many Tucson golfers to be the most challenging in the area. Surrounded by undisturbed desert, the strategically designed bunkers are more challenging than they first appear. Great scenery, large greens and a high number of challenging shots make the Enke a great choice to sharpen your swinging skills.

The Starr Pass Country Club and Spa is semi-private and offers golf to both members and the general public. The spectacular setting proves to be a dramatic backdrop for an equally dramatic course. It features three sets of nines that include the Rattler, the Roadrunner and the Coyote that are full of challenges for every skill level. From the daunting tee to pin stretch of over 7,000 yards on one hole to a more manageable 5,213 yards for a less adventurous player, these fairways, bunkers and greens all offer something special to any and every golf lover, no matter how accomplished.

The Gallery Golf Club prides itself on its finely tended greens, impeccably trimmed bunkers and fairways. The course has been praised by various publications, as Golf Digest ranked the course #1 in Southwest Arizona and Golfweek named The Gallery Golf among its Top 100 Modern Courses. But you don't have to take the pros' advice to appreciate the two different courses, each are laid out in variously challenging ways that will surely test your abilities no matter how many years you've been playing.

They say that good things come in small packages, and nowhere is that more obvious than on the links at the El Rio-Trini Alvarez Golf Course. This entire course spans a "mere" 6,400 yards and the greens look more like postage stamps, but that doesn't mean that playing this short course isn't a really big challenge. This vintage course that dates back to the 1930s was the original site of the first PGA Tucson Open. If you shoot short, then this course is a perfect fit.

Even though the Quarry Pines Golf Club is a few miles outside of the Tucson metro area, it doesn't mean that the little extra effort it takes to get there isn't worth it. The shots are as challenging as they are picturesque, as most of these holes are routed below the rim of a massive stone quarry. This very playable par 71 course is a great change of pace that will no doubt improve your game with its jagged twists and turns.
